Current
v0.29.1 · Under the hood 20 Oct 2026
- A big tidy-up behind the scenes to keep the world running smoothly as more people play.
- The server is quicker at keeping track of who and what is around you, especially when lots of players and monsters are about.
- Wandering very far out into the wilds no longer strains the server.
- Security improvements, and a safety net so a single hiccup can't bring the game down for everyone.
- Fixed: arriving in a zone could briefly leave you out of view for the first moment.
Past updates
v0.29.0 · Built from tiles 19 Oct 2026
- The world is now built from tiles. The ground, hills, ledges and lava are made of building blocks. This is the groundwork for hand-crafted areas to come.
- Hills roll in smooth grassy slopes, and the caves' stone floors follow suit.
- You jump higher and further: high enough to clear ledges two blocks tall, and far enough to clear a block-wide gap.
- Bump your head on a low ceiling mid-jump and you'll drop back down.
- Cave ledges and lava chasms now line up with the blocks around them.
v0.28.0 · Leaps and lava 18 Oct 2026
- Jump! Press Space, W or Up, or tap the new ▲ pad on phones. Jump while walking to leap forward.
- Deep in the Goblin Caves, the floor turns treacherous. Rocky ledges you'll have to jump onto appear on the deeper floors, and further down still, chasms of glowing lava to leap across. Fall in and you'll get burned, badly.
- Monsters on foot can't climb ledges or cross chasms. Sometimes the high ground is the safest place to be.
- New monster: the Goblin Bat, a quick, goblin-faced bat that flies over ledges and lava and swoops down to bite.
- Birds now flap across the skies above Fledgely and the farm.
v0.27.2 · Same view for everyone 18 Oct 2026
- Everyone now sees the same stretch of the world, whether on a phone, a laptop or a big monitor. The picture scales to fit your screen.
- Looting reaches the same distance on every device: a quarter of the standard view to each side of you.
- New zoom control on the Action view (or the - and + keys). Zoom in up to 2x to make everything bigger, which is handy on a phone. Zooming never shows you more than anyone else, and doesn't change how far you can loot. Your choice is remembered.
v0.27.1 · Loot it all 18 Oct 2026
- Press E to loot nearby. Everything on the ground within half a screen of you (a quarter of the screen each side) shows up in the loot window. On phones, tap Loot nearby.
- No more standing right on top of something to pick it up.
- Search the general area has been retired. Resources grow in the world now, so harvest the trees and bushes you find instead.
- The Pick up / drop button is gone. Dropping things is done from the same loot window.
v0.27.0 · Hills, hunts and hot pursuit 18 Oct 2026
- The land has hills and valleys. The ground is level around towns and buildings, and rolls away into hills further out. Climbing slows you down; heading downhill speeds you up.
- Live combat. Monsters now live out in the world. They wander near their lairs, notice you when you come close, chase you and attack when they reach you.
- You swing at the nearest monster within reach on your own, and you can move freely while fighting. Your abilities still fire when they're ready.
- Run for it! Walk away whenever you like. A monster gives up once you lead it far enough from home. Some are slower than you, and some are not.
- Monsters won't follow you into town, and nothing follows you through a cave entrance or down a passage.
- Slain monsters return after a while, so hunting grounds stay busy.
- Searching an area now turns up resources only. The monsters will find you on their own.
- Party members simply fight together when they're close, so the Ready toggle has been retired. Loot is still dealt in turns among everyone who fought.
v0.26.0 · The big picture 17 Oct 2026
- A new screen layout on computers. The world fills the whole window. Your health and status sit in the top left, a minimap in the top right, chat in the bottom left and your actions along the bottom.
- Your pack, gear, quests, skills, party, friends, the map and settings open as windows from the buttons on the right. Shortcuts: I for your pack, M for the map, Enter to chat and Esc to close windows.
- The view is pulled back, so you see much more of the world around you.
- Everything is to scale. Houses, the Smithy, the barn and the caves now tower over you, and trees grow tall.
- New, more detailed characters with fuller animations: a proper walk with swinging arms, breathing and blinking while you stand, a big wind-up and swing when you strike, and a flinch when you're hit.
- Farmer Fledgley has been redrawn too. Look for the hat and the belly.
- You can see other players from a little further away, to match the wider view.
- Phones keep their touch layout with the new art.
v0.25.2 · Silky scrolling 17 Oct 2026
- The world now scrolls in steps of a single screen pixel instead of a whole art pixel, so walking stays smooth on high-refresh-rate screens (120 Hz and up). The art stays just as crisp.
- New in Settings: Show frame rate, a small counter on the Action view.
v0.25.1 · Smoother moves 17 Oct 2026
- Walking is much smoother. Characters and the view now move at an even pace instead of speeding up and slowing down several times a second.
- The Action view takes less work to draw, which helps older phones and laptops keep up.
v0.25.0 · Play on your phone 16 Oct 2026
- A layout made for phones, iPhone and Android. The Action view sits on top, and a bar at the bottom switches between Map, Chat and You (your pack, gear, quests, skills, party and friends).
- Touch controls: hold the big arrow pads in the corners of the Action view to walk.
- Press and hold any item to see its stats. A tap still does what it always did.
- Characters are drawn larger on small screens, and your status shows over the sky.
- Swipe the row of buttons under the Action view to reach them all.
- Shops, crafting, quests and other windows open full-screen.
- New chat while you're looking at another panel shows a count on the Chat button.
- Turn your phone sideways to see the Action view and a panel side by side.
v0.24.0 · Fields, forests and forges 16 Oct 2026
- Fledgely Farm is open. Step through the gate at Fledgely Farm into a small, peaceful farm: fields, a thatched farmhouse, a barn, a chicken coop, and cows and chicks wandering about. No monsters here.
- Meet Farmer Fledgley, your first quest-giver. Talk to him for work. More jobs open up as you help him.
- New Quests tab to keep track of what you've taken on.
- Trees and bushes now grow across the land. Chop wood, pick berries and apples, gather herbs and mushrooms. Each one can be harvested a few times before it's bare, and then it grows back. Where they grow changes every day.
- Holidays bring something special. Watch for unusual things growing around the major holidays. They yield rare materials you won't find any other time of year.
- Crafting. Open the Crafting window from the action bar and make clubs, knives, spears, axes, shields and poultices from what you gather. Holiday materials make special pieces.
- How well a piece turns out depends on you, and gets better the more you craft. Every crafted piece carries its maker's name.
- Soul-forging: once in a long while, something you craft comes out soul-forged, and you pour your soul essence into it however you like.
- The Goblin Caves are now much tighter tunnels, and their size changes every day. The deeper floors are larger.
v0.23.0 · The depths 16 Oct 2026
- The Goblin Caves go deeper. Below the first floor lie more floors, and every day the caves are laid out anew: some days they run far deeper than others.
- The ways down move every day, and they aren't on any map. Walk the tunnels left and right to find today's way down, then choose Go down. Some floors have more than one.
- Each floor is more dangerous than the one above, even near its center.
- Every deeper floor has a rope ladder at its center that climbs back up.
- The crates, tents and lurking goblins are rearranged every day too.
- When the caves reshape at the start of a new day, anyone caught on a floor that no longer exists finds their way back to the Cave Mouth.
v0.22.0 · Into the Goblin Caves 16 Oct 2026
- A new zone: the Goblin Caves. Stand at the Goblin Caves in Fledgely and choose Enter the Goblin Caves.
- A long cave system stretching left and right, lit by torches and campfires and cluttered with crates, crude tents, barrels and bones. Keep an eye out: goblins peek out from behind them.
- You arrive at the Cave Mouth, where no goblin dares come. To head home, return there and choose Leave the caves.
- The caves get dangerous faster than Fledgely the deeper you go, and goblins rule them.
- New monster: the Goblin Warrior, a club-swinging brute that often carries gear worth taking.
- New places: the Mushroom Grotto and the Goblin Camp.
- Search the tunnels for flint, cave mushrooms and amber.
v0.21.0 · Patch notes 16 Oct 2026
- Patch notes are here. The login screen links to the current update and to every past one.
v0.20.0 · A world of pixels 16 Oct 2026
- The Action view is now drawn with pixel-art sprites in a classic 16-bit style.
- Characters have idle, walking and attack animations. Other players wear tunics of different colours.
- Every monster kind has its own look, and higher-ranked monsters are drawn larger.
- Each place along the road has its own building, from the glowing forge of the Smithy to the eyes watching from the Goblin Caves.
- Clouds and hills drift by at their own pace as you walk.
- Names no longer overlap when a crowd gathers around a fight.
- The art is a first version. Expect it to be replaced with finished artwork over time.
v0.19.1 · Sharing the spoils 16 Oct 2026
- Party loot is dealt in turns. Each item a monster drops goes straight into the pack of the next person in the rotation, and the turn carries over from fight to fight. Every drop is posted in Party chat.
- Only those who took part in a fight are in the rotation for its loot.
- If it's your turn but your pack is full, the item falls to the ground and anyone can pick it up.
- Ready no longer walks you anywhere. With Ready on, you join a party member's fight automatically when you're already close to it. Pair it with Follow to stay at their side.
- The Party tab shows who has Ready switched on, and each member has a Follow button.
- Hovering over a piece of gear you aren't wearing compares it with what you have on: a green + where it's better, a red − where it's worse.
v0.19.0 · Stick together 16 Oct 2026
- Follow a party member: you walk to them and keep following until you stop or steer yourself.
- Ready: a new Party tab toggle for joining your party members' fights.
- Loot from a fight can only be picked up by those who fought in it.
- Friends who are in your party can be followed from the Friends tab too.
v0.18.0 · Ranks and packs 16 Oct 2026
- Monsters now come in ranks, each far stronger than the one below: Champion, Prince, Mutated, Emperor, Lowly God, Midtier God, Highgod and Immortal.
- In Fledgely, nothing stronger than a Champion appears, and only far from the village.
- Up to three monsters can attack at once. Very rarely, a single monster of a higher rank appears instead.
- Everyone in a fight focuses on one monster at a time, and each monster drops its gear the moment it falls.
v0.17.0 · Parties 16 Oct 2026
- New Party tab. Start a party and invite players by name, up to six members.
- See each member's health, and how far away and in which direction they are.
- Members who log out stay in the party and are still in it when they return, unless the leader removes them.
- If the leader leaves, the longest-standing member takes over.
- New Party chat channel.
v0.16.0 · Friends 16 Oct 2026
- New Friends tab. Add or remove players by name and see who's online.
- Your system log tells you when a friend comes online or goes offline.
- Whisper an online friend straight from the list.
v0.15.0 · A clearer view 16 Oct 2026
- The world and local maps now fit their panel, with no scroll bar.
- Destinations are picked from a compact "Go to" list that shows walking times.
- Hover over any item to see its stats.
v0.14.0 · Game Masters 16 Oct 2026
- Game Masters now have tools to keep the world fair and friendly, including removing players who break the rules.
- Announcements from the Game Masters appear in World chat.
v0.13.0 · The items window 16 Oct 2026
- Picking up and dropping items now uses a window like the shop: things on the ground nearby on the left, your pack on the right.
- Press E to open and close it. Pick up everything nearby with one button.
- The window shows each piece of gear's stats.
v0.12.0 · A new day 14 Oct 2026
- The world changes a little every day at midnight UTC.
- From day to day, monsters vary in strength and abilities, and the shops vary in what they sell, what they buy and their prices.
- Shops have limited stock that sells out and restocks daily.
- Gear quality: Crude, Common, Fine, Superior and Masterwork. Every piece has its own numbers.
v0.11.0 · Open for business 14 Oct 2026
- The General Store and the Smithy are open. Buy on the left, sell what you carry on the right.
- The currency is copper coins, and new characters start with a few.
- New skill: Trading, which gets you better prices the more you trade.
v0.10.0 · Arms and armor 14 Oct 2026
- Weapons have attack, weight and durability. Armor has defense, resistances and durability.
- Equip gear from your pack and see it on the Paperdoll, with its bonuses shown in green next to your stats.
- Gear wears down with use. Broken gear gives no bonus.
- Weapons deal different kinds of damage, and armor resists them differently.
- Some monsters carry gear and drop it when they die.
- Your stats and skills improve more often.
v0.9.1 · Skills and abilities 14 Oct 2026
- New Skills tab with your skills and abilities. Passive abilities always work; active ones cost soul essence.
- New skill: Sword Proficiency. Some abilities, like Power Strike, can only be learned once a skill is high enough.
- Abilities include Power Strike, Second Wind, Tough Hide and Keen Eye.
- Abilities are used automatically in combat. Switch any of them off on the Skills tab.
- Monsters have abilities of their own.
- Your stats and skills improve more often.
v0.9.0 · Strength in numbers 14 Oct 2026
- Walking past someone in a fight? Join in.
- Hurt players show a health bar to those nearby.
- Red berries can be eaten: they restore life force for 30 seconds, even mid-fight.
- Life force now only recovers on its own outside combat.
v0.8.1 · Search the general area 14 Oct 2026
- Stand still and search where you are. Monsters may find you, and you may find resources: berries, mushrooms, flint, herbs and more.
- Resources are only found by searching, never while walking.
- Searching stops on its own if you're away for a long time.
v0.8.0 · Combat 13 Oct 2026
- Fights play out automatically, with each side striking as fast as their stats and skills allow.
- Monsters roam Fledgely: Cave Rats, Wild Boars, Goblin Scouts and Dire Wolves.
- The village center is safe. The further out you walk, the more often monsters find you.
- After a fight, you get a short breather before the next one.
- If you're defeated, you wake at the center of the zone. Leaving in the middle of a fight counts as a defeat.
v0.7.0 · No levels 13 Oct 2026
- There are no character levels. Everything you do — fighting, dodging, gathering, trading — has a small chance to improve your stats and skills.
- Only active play counts toward learning, up to a weekly allowance. Newer accounts get a larger allowance.
v0.6.0 · The long road 13 Oct 2026
- Zones stretch an enormous distance in both directions. To leave a zone, walk back to its center.
- The further from the center, the higher the area level: better finds, and tougher monsters.
- Stats are now shown to three decimal places.
v0.5.0 · Finders keepers 13 Oct 2026
- New characters start with a few useful items.
- Drop items where you stand. Others can see them as they pass, and pick them up.
- Items left on the ground disappear after an hour.
v0.4.1 · Safety first 13 Oct 2026
- Change your password from the Settings tab. Changing it logs out your other sessions.
- Delete a character by typing its name to confirm.
- Only one character per account can be online at a time.
- Other players only see where you are when you're near them.

- Stronger protection for your account, and many security and stability fixes.
